As we move into 2022, it is the perfect time to review how well our businesses are performing, planning if there is anything that we can do to make improvements. This is especially important as we bring to an end another COVID year, which has carried with it much uncertainty and stress for managers and staff around the world.

We have put together 10 easy to follow tips on how to make simple changes this year, with an aim to refresh and reinvigorate your business.

Review your social media

When was the last time that you really looked at your social media? If it has been a while, you may find that there are new functions to take advantage of, as well as improvements that can be made to the layout of your page. Giving your social media a bit of attention can really help to catch the eye of potential new clients.

Make contact with all of your clients

Start the new year with a positive email to all of your existing clients and to ones that have used you in the past. Tell them your exciting plans for the year ahead and offer discounts to those who are prepared to use you again.

Arrange an event

This could be either by Zoom or in person, a way to bring people together and attract more attention for your business. You could demonstrate a new product or line that you are expecting, or tell people about a new service that you will be offering.

Makeover your website or store

Just like your social media, people will notice when you make positive changes. Updating the colour scheme, altering the layout and rewriting some copy will work wonders in attracting new visitors into your shop or to your website, as well as displaying your products in the best possible positions where passersby can see them.

Give your uniform a new look

A simple and effective way to give your business a boost is to update your uniforms. A new colour, a bigger logo or having a new style will be a great way to start the new year.

Inspire your staff

After a long couple of years, it could be a good idea to give your staff a pep talk to help inspire them for the year ahead. If your business covers a large number of premises, then a Zoom call would be sufficient, otherwise a personal visit will be seen as an apppreciated effort. Perhaps spend the day with your staff on the shop floor if you don’t usually; it is a great way to gather insight from those on the front line.

Order customised pens for your clients

A great way to advertise your business, a promotional pen will be a well received gift for your clients. Order them in bulk to save money and send them out to existing, old and potential customers. Pens have a way of working their way through many pairs of hands, so it’s an easy way to get your brand name out into the public.

Review your operational hours

Following lockdowns and social distancing, you may have found that customer behaviours have changed. They may shop earlier or later in the day than they did before or on specific days, so perhaps look at whether you need to change your hours to suit the footfall of your business.

Embrace the new normal

It seems at the moment that the new COVID way of life is here to stay. So don’t fight it, embrace it. If click and collect is something that your customers have been asking for, then try it. If you have people asking for things to be sent in the post that you would never have done before, perhaps give it a go. It may seem a bit of a pain whilst you are setting it up, but it will only benefit you in the long run.

Be positive

Don’t give up! It’s been a hard few years for everyone, but you must try to ride the storm to the very end. As life slowly gets back into some kind of swing, you will see your business improve. You just need to hang tight, try some new ways of working and see the positive results fly in.
